This report is one of the first of a new series for The Grizzly Posts, called " The Inside Scoop". For this column, journalism students write about a staff member, teacher, member, or student they admire. Last week you may have read a post by students about their eighth grade Advisor, whom they call "Coach Ray".
So now let's hear what Zori A. has to say about Emiliano N. , a charismatic and well-loved After-School Instructor...
Emiliano, also known as "Nano", is a senior at Cal Prep who plays basketball and makes music with his guitar. Those enrolled in Cal Prep’s After-School program where he’s an instructor, appreciate his dedication to students, his warmth, intelligence and patience. At the end of an eight-hour school day, during which he goes to classes and plays basketball, he deals with students like me (LOL) for almost three extra hours, although on Fridays he works for five more hours after school ends. That’s a long day!
When he’s finished with after school instruction, he heads home and likes to help his mom cook dinner or he plays with his siblings. He told me that he makes sure he relaxes after work by strumming his guitar or playing video games in his room, making some beats, or talking on the phone to his girlfriend. He also likes to play basketball with his friends/teammates if he has time.
I was anxious to find out how Nano copes after so many hours at school with some of Cal Preps’ more active students in the After-School program? You want to know what I think?
