STUDY RESOURCES

By Emily Saephan

It’s already been a month into the school year. Now, things are starting to get serious–especially for us high school students. The school year is moving fast, and you need to be prepared for whatever comes your way. Of course, things happen. Maybe you had something unexpected happen and it caused you to miss school. Well, you should first email your teacher on what work you missed, but after that, you need to study, or maybe you just need help in a certain area.

OFFICE HOURS

Every teacher’s office hours are different. Some have set times, while others may want you to make an appointment instead. Whatever it is, make sure to check in with your teacher. Office hours are a great opportunity to get the support you need, especially if you prefer learning in person than online.

PEOPLE

Simply asking for help, from anyone, is also a great way to understand a topic better. Not only can it help build your relationship with them, it is an easy way to help you study. A few things you can do is set up study groups or attend tutoring sessions. Getting help and learning from a knowledgeable person is really useful!

YOUTUBE

Youtube is a great resource, it quite literally has everything. Whether you need to take notes on a subject, or want to know how to write a proper essay, Youtube will have it. Just a quick search and you will be flooded by options of the topic you need. Personally, I try to find videos that are shorter in run time as they often get straight to the point and reduce your time studying.

KHAN ACADEMY

Khan Academy is a great platform to learn math. It covers all mathematical topics, from basic addition to complex algebra! It helps you learn and practice how to solve equations, and is a great source to get better in math. Khan Academy also offers lessons about the sciences, computer programming, history, and economics as well.

THE INTERNET

As you may know, just the internet will also give you anything you need. A quick google search can provide hundreds of sites, articles, videos, and images about whatever you’re looking for. It can also show sites that are incredibly useful in your career, such as online classes.

There are many ways to get help in a class. Whether it be from a person or online, there are many alternatives to help you study. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and don’t laze around either! Keep trying your best and keep pushing forward.
