Student Poetry

Some of our very own students here at Cal Prep are very talented poets that deserve some recognition, here are a few of their beautifully moving poetry.

chlorophyll
(pronounced KLOR-a-fill)
brown, golden bronze,
golden yellow, purple-red,
light tan, crimson,
and orange-red

attached to a stem,
the main organs of photosynthesis and transcription,
a flattened structure,
at least thats what google tells me.

the smallest leaf is the size
of a rice grain
the largest the size of a man

many people disregard
the uses of leaves

a caterpillar sanctuary,
an aphid’s favorite meal,
a camouflage
for luna moths

some shade for a ladybug
maybe even a resting place
for bees whom pollinate
they flow in the wind
filling our sky and our floors

i would like to reincarnate
perhaps the leaf of a peach tree
just because
peaches are my favorite fruit

Bright and beautiful
Shining down on him,
Is he aware she, still, is there?
admired by everyone, she fell
in love with
the wrong one.
She fancies him and visits him every night

Is he aware
She visits when he sleeps serenely,
she casts a spell to keep him with her forever
He will be young forever
and sleep forever
under the pale moonlight
